In 2014, eleven artists made it through to the final round of selection to become Royal West of England Academicians (RWAs), and there were three places available.
Academicians are elected on the basis that they are practising artists or architects of ability and experience, and are professionally active in the UK. Those who put themselves forward to be considered for Academician membership must be high-calibre artists making challenging work with a strong level of commitment to developing their practice. They should be represented by galleries with strong national and international reputations, or work with contemporary art organisations and engage in publicly-funded art projects. They must have graduated at least three years prior to applying and have connections with the region.
This year, there are ten candidates, and four places available. Current Academicians may now vote for the candidates, either in person at the RWA (Academician Candidates' works are on display in the Link Space and Fedden Room and will be until the end of the Annual Open exhibition), or via email. If you would like to email your choices, please send them to email@example.com, for the attention of Jess Kirkby. Please state clearly your name, and the names of the four (or less) candidates you would like to vote for. If you do not wish to vote for any of the candidates, please also email or tick the appropriate box on the voting slip.
