Turning Not a Page, Italy Series, Jill Carter, 2013

Turning Not a Page, Italy Series, Jill Carter, 2013

Multi-media artist Jill Carter will be exhibiting her research and work in progress resulting from a month-long trip to Italy in summer 2013, made possible through the Theresa Knowles Bursary awarded by the RWA.

Carter’s work explores the notion of identity through storytelling, depicting narratives through stitched words and images, photography, print, drawing, audio, collections of found and made objects and artist journals. Carter will be working in-situ providing an interactive opportunity for audiences to explore her work whilst watching the space develop as the week progresses.

The residency has been programmed to coincide with the Bristol Storytelling Festival and Carter will be including work and research into the Sibyls – women storytellers, prophets and foretellers – interacting with themes of identity, narrative and performance across our exhibition programme.
