After leaving full-time education, the next few years were spent combining freelance design work with teaching art to adults, eventually becoming a full-time art tutor with Salford Education Authority for many years. Rita currently tutors regular classes at Kingshill House in Dursley, The Subscription Rooms in Stroud, and Old Down Country Park, as well as occasional workshops for local art clubs. Her favourite subjects include landscape, plants, gardens and natural forms. Her paintings mainly develop from observational drawings, usually watercolour or mixed media. Current themes include rock pools, tree bark and rock formations.
