Your Visit to Bristol's RWA

The RWA is located in the heart of Bristol and is open throughout the year, Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5.30pm, Sunday 11am-5pm. We are closed on Mondays.

Our main exhibitions are held upstairs in our beautiful, purpose-built galleries, described by Sir Nicholas Serota (Chair, Arts Council) as one of the most beautiful galleries in the country.

Current exhibitions at the RWA

Our current major exhibition is Fire: Flashes to Ashes in British Art 1692-2019. This exhibition shows how vital fire has been to the human experience, through technology, storytelling and symbolism and how the duality of our relationship with the element continues to fascinate in the 21st century. We are incredibly lucky to be able to display works from influential contemporary artists such as Tim Shaw RA RWA Hon, Cornelia Parker OBE RA, Susan Hiller, Anthony McCall and David Nash RA, as well as historical works by J. M. W. Turner RA, Joseph Wright of Derby ARA, John Martin and Wilhelmina Barns-Graham CBE RWA Hon, to name but a few. To find out more and book tickets click here.

We also host a changing programme of free exhibitions throughout the year. Visit our 'What's On' page to view all current and upcoming exhibitions and events.

We are always happy to provide a welcome talk for pre-booked visiting groups of 12 or more, and also offer a group discount - please phone (01179735129) or email us to book your visit.
