Ros Ford

My fascination is with often unnoticed, ever changing, functional structures and buildings. These can range from the abandoned and derelict, to contemporary places of work or leisure. This subject matter is a vehicle for my interest in the buildings’ form and structure and their relationship with the landscape. My recent etchings are based on hidden industrial landscapes close to my home and studio.

I make drawings and photographs on location that I develop into series of prints and paintings. I often use an imagined and elevated vantage point, detaching the viewer, allowing the location to be explored from impossible angles.

In 2015 I won the Teresa Knowles Travel bursary from the Drawn Exhibition at the RWA to draw in Italy. I will travel in early 2016 when I hope to develop the theme of structures in the landscape.

I work at BV Studios, Bristol and have exhibited regularly in RWA exhibitions and won national prizes and awards for my work. My prints and paintings are exhibited, collected and held in public and private collections in the UK and internationally. I undertake commissions and residencies, teach drawing and printmaking and have founded and coordinated art events.
