Join artist Luke Wade for a fun and playful workshop creating collagraph print self-portraits.
Collagraphy is a printmaking technique where cardboard is used to make an image which is rolled with ink and printed onto paper. In this workshop, you will be drawing a portrait (either of yourself with a mirror, or that of a partner) and transferring this template to recycled cardboard to make your prints.
By cutting the portrait into different sections, each part of the picture can be printed in different colours, different positions and layered on top of each other. There will be plenty of opportunities to collage and experiment; perhaps swapping noses, adding spectacles (or extra limbs), changing hairstyles and using fruit, leaves and found objects to add textures to your print.
Maybe you don't fancy drawing? That's no problem: you can always bring an A4 printout of a face (preferably head and shoulders) to use to make your Collagraph plate.
Suitable for ages 7+.
Parents/Carers must remain in the building but are encouraged to enjoy the café, galleries and RWA shop while their children are in the workshop. Parents/Carers will receive complimentary exhibition entry.
Limited places available - booking required.
