Dione Page
Dione Page studied at Colchester School of Art and became a Selection and General Committee member of the Colchester Art Society. She was a tutor for Essex County Council Adult Art Education between 1977 and 1997 taking Master Classes. She has been the recipient of several notable awards such as in 1983 and 1988 the Watercolour Award at the RWA, the Best Watercolour in 1995 at the Essex Open Exhibition, the Best Painting Award in 1996 at the East of England Art Exhibition receiving a Special Award from the same institution the very same year and also in 1996 she won the Best Newcomer Award at the Bury St Edmunds Art Society.
Her solo exhibitions include venues such as the Phoenix Galleries in Lavenham Suffolk, and London, and she has had her work included in group shows at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions in London, the Royal Watercolour Society and the Society of Women Artists in London, the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff and the Patricia Wells Gallery in Thornbury near Bristol amongst other private galleries.
Dione Page acknowledges that the late Edward Bawden and John O'Connor were influential on her work as well as Henry Moore. Moore's use of wax pastel in his drawings in the Second World War, were especially significant. She also notes that her time as a graphic designer using gouache has influenced her use of mixed media. Gardening, sailing and journeying to the wilder parts of Great Britain have influenced her choice of subject matter.
