Into the Blue: Lose yourself in the many worlds, forms and feelings of Blue

This exhibition was curated by History of Art MA students from the University of Bristol, using works from the RWA Permanent Collection.

For centuries, blue has captivated artists. Into the Blue explores the colour’s bewitching and multidimensional nature through selected works from the RWA collection, complementing the upcoming Vézelay exhibition ‘Living Lines’, and reflecting her lifelong fascination with colour.
From serene seas to troubled waves, from the esoteric darkness of night to the spiritual depth and intimate landscapes, blue is displayed in various forms, suggesting its adaptability to different environments. Susan Foord’s Blue Wave, captures the essence of this exhibition, through its dark window opening onto a hazy, blue landscape.
Plunge with us into the ethereal and emotional journey of blue and discover its remarkable aspects offered by those artworks.
